11th July saw the Grade II listed, Royal Oak, host the launch of the Second Edition of the ‘Chesterfield Great Historic Pub Tour’ booklet.
Put together by graphic designer, Chris Fox and (mostly) written by local historian Shaun Stevenson, this publication includes copious detail, and images, of several centrally-located pubs and other historically important buildings.
The Royal Oak, for example, dates back to the 15th century. It was purchased, and renovated, by Sheffield-based William Stones in 1897 and includes many features from that time.
The 40 page, full colour, A5 booklet is on sale at local outlets. For retail enquiries and copies by post, contact greathistoricpubtours@gmail.com .
