As part of Heritage Open Days 2026, we led two Pub Heritage walks. The Kelham Island walk commenced at the Wellington. Thanks to their staff for holding the fort while the walk leader was delayed due to a traffic accident: he was not involved but the incident involved an over-turned car and several members of the emergency services. After this slightly delayed start, 18 attendees took in the delights of the area before concluding with the mighty River Don Steam Engine.
Later in the afternoon, John and myself took 23 attendees round Little Chicago. This includes a break at the Crow when we took over the lounge.
These walks encompassed aspects of industrial, and social, heritage and of the ‘Beer Capital’ status owned by the City of Sheffield. Thanks to everyone who took part and to both the Wellington and the Crow for en route hosting. The next planned walk is part of SCBF50 – John and myself will lead the Little Chicago walk on the Thursday morning: bookings are now open (see QR code).
